Can a “good person” be lost?

In Acts 10, Luke introduces us to Cornelius, a generous, moral, God-fearing man who still needed to hear the Gospel. At the same time, God is transforming Peter’s heart, teaching him that the message of Jesus is not limited by race, culture, background, or religious tradition.

In “What God Has Made Clean,” we discover that salvation has never been earned through good works, religious effort, or moral living. It is received by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ. We also see God tear down the walls that divide people, declaring that the Gospel is for every nation and every image bearer.

Whether you think you’ve done too much to be forgiven or you’ve done enough to earn God’s favor, Acts 10 points us to the same answer: Jesus Christ. The ground is level at the foot of the cross, and the invitation to repent, believe, and receive new life is extended to everyone.
