D-Groups

WHAT IS A

D-GROUP?

The mission of Church 2|42 is to mobilize disciples of Jesus with the Gospel to our Sidelines and Sidewalks.
D-Groups play a vital role in fulfilling this mission by intentionally forming disciples who are equipped to live on mission wherever God has placed them.
There is something powerful about gathering with two to three others who are intentionally committed to becoming mature disciples of Jesus. Jesus modeled this kind of discipleship for us. While He discipled twelve men for three years, Scripture also shows that He invested deeply in a smaller inner circle—Peter, James, and John.
D-Groups are built on this biblical model. The clear intention is to help participants grow to become more like Jesus and to be equipped to lead others by starting their own D-Groups. This is discipleship that is relational, intentional, and reproducible (Mark 3:13–14; Matthew 28:19–20).

WHAT IS A

DISCIPLE?

A mature disciple is someone who is actively helping others become more like Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 2:2; Matthew 4:19).
One aspect often missing in modern discipleship is training people not only to grow spiritually, but also to go and make disciples themselves. Our D-Groups are intentionally designed with this purpose in mind—spiritual reproduction.
We want every participant to grow in their walk with Christ (Colossians 1:28). Equally important, when the discipleship process is complete, each person is prepared and confident to go and make disciples of others (Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 2:42).

HERE ARE SOME OF OUR

FAQs

What is a D-Group?
A D-Group is a small discipleship group of 3–4 people who meet regularly to grow spiritually, study God’s Word, pray together, and intentionally train to make disciples (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:24–25).
How long does a D-Group last?
Most D-Groups commit to meeting for a defined season (often 9–12 months), allowing time for spiritual growth, accountability, and preparation to lead others (Luke 6:12–13).
What is expected of participants?

Participants are expected to be committed, teachable, and faithful—willing to engage Scripture, be accountable, and invest in others (Luke 9:23; James 1:22).
Do I need to be a mature believer to join?
No. D-Groups are designed for believers who desire to grow deeper in their faith and are willing to be discipled with the goal of discipling others (Philippians 1:6).
Will I be expected to lead a D-Group in the future?
Yes. The goal of D-Groups is spiritual reproduction—helping each participant become equipped and confident to disciple others (2 Timothy 2:2).
